Hamed Adekunle Habib popularly known as Atimedo is a hiphop/fuji rapper born in Lagos in the 90's
Here is an exclusive interview on how his musical journey has been so far
WE ALL KNOW YOU AS ATIMEDO.HOW DID YOU GET THE NAME?
My name is Hamed Adekunle Habib and I was born in Lagos.Growing up as a kid I have always loved music especially the Yoruba Fuji songs by king Sunny Ade,Obesere,Pasuma,Osupa and the rest of them and I wanted to be a fuji singer like them someday. I started off by singing their songs and my interest for music grew as I grew up
When I started as a fuji musician, I don't have nickname until a man in my area that have interest in music decided to organized a show like a competition for unknown artists, and the man said any artist that sing very well and pull the crowd most will be known. So to cut the long story shot, I took the first position and the MC raised my hand up and shouted.. atimó hamed o...(hamed as been known) and this is how my elder brother twisted d atimó hamed o.. to Atimedo and he told me to be using Atimedo as a stage name.
WHO FIRST BELIEVED IN YOUR CAREER?
My friends were the first people to believe in my musical dream and they always encourage me and show me support even when I haven't record a song yet then my mother also supported me despite the fact that she wanted me to go to school.
AT WHAT AGE DID YOU START MUSIC?
Like I said before I started music when I was very small but started officially when I was 14. Then I recorded my first song OMOGE ESTHER in the year 2011 and I also released my hit track Seven-7 and Itowo
WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND SEVEN-7?
Well I would say it was due to frustration because as an upcoming then some people never believed in me though I was not expecting the whole world to believe in me.The secret behind seven-7 is simple. some of my friends were always mocking and making gest of me saying I am wasting my time going into music. Actually I got the inspiration from my mentor Saheed Osupa.
HAVE YOU EVER PERFORMED ON STAGE WITH ANY BIG ARTISTE BEFORE?
Yes, ABAS AKANDE OBERERE, WASIU ALABI PASUMA, SULE ALAO MALAIKA, SAFEJO AMAMA, MURI THUNDER, 2FACE, NICE, DURELLA, JOEL, LKT, O'BLACK, SUGAR BOY, EDRIS ABDULKAREEM and many others.
HAVE YOU EVER FEATURED ANY BIG SUPER STAR BEFORE?AND IF YOU WERE TO FEATURE WHO WILL THAT BE AND WHY?
No and if I will it would be Saheed Osupa,9ice because they are legends and Saheed Osupa is my mentor.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT?
That was when I wanted to perform in a show back then and the Dj was acting up and sent me off the stage. It was really embarrassing for me then I was like is this what every upcoming face?.
WHAT SHOULD YOUR FANS BE EXPECTING FROM YOU SOON?
I am currently working on some new projects at the moment. Bet me something big is coming. There is a new track that will be dropping soon titled Omo Igboro and also Seven-7 video shoot so anticipate.
ARE YOU UNDER ANY RECORD LABEL?
Hahaha not at the moment.I am currently not under any record label but it will be great being under one.
